Shashank Sethi

Birbhum, the Land of Red Soil is known for its cultural values. The District administration with the help of NIC-Birbhum District Unit has launched host of e-initiatives to reduce the digital divide in the District.

We have already placed information about the history of the district, the geographical features, details of District Administration, Birbhum Zilla Parishad, industrial prospects, tourism potential and contact addresses and telephone numbers of officials and peoples’ representatives on the website. Besides, we have also taken steps to enlarge the website with a view to establishing effective communication between the Govt. and the citizens through the website.
Portals have been included where development schemes being executed in the district under different important national program including NREGA are being highlighted through updated reports and returns as well as various other relevant pieces of information which can easily be accessed by the public at large. Besides, for the convenience of the general public, we have also put various application forms including forms for self-employment schemes, SC/ST certificate etc. on the website.
Notices inviting tenders etc. are also being uploaded so that the general public can use such forms without taking the pain to travel to the district headquarters for procuring the same. We are also planning to include resolutions of all important meetings and other important instructions / Circulars in the website with a view to ensuring greater transparency in the system. I hope that the website will be visited by all concerned more frequently. Any suggestion for improvement of this website will be most welcome.
