About the department & it’s activities :

Facilitation of conflict resolutions betweenmanagement and trade unions under labour laws coming under under state subjects.
-issue of contractor and other licences, registration under shops and establishments, The Contract Labour (R&A) Act, 1970, The B& OCW (RECS) Act, 1996
– Ensuring minimum wages and implementation of welfare schemes under labour department.

Scheme offered by the department with key features :
-Bina MulyaSamajik Suraksha Yojana(BM-SSY) : Social security scheme for unorganised workers registered under the scheme which is totally free of cost.
* Pension under WBB&OCWW Scheme & WBTWSS Scheme.

Eligibility for availing those schemes :
All unorganized workers working in West Bengal are eligible to register under the scheme falling under age group 18-60 years provided that they register before attaining 55 years of age to qualify for PF claims.
