About Mid-day Meal Program
The Cooked-Mid-Day Meal Program is one of the most important flagship programs implemented jointly by the Central & the State Government. At present the program covers around Six Lakhs of children in our district between the class I to VIII. It involves the provision of free lunch for all schooling days. The key objective of the programs are to protect children from class room hunger, increasing school enrolment and attendance and social empowerment through the provision of employment to women. It was introduced in our district during the year 2006. Main objective of the Scheme are to arrest the drop-out rates of enrolments and provide healthy and nutritious cooked food.
Major activities: In 3827 Nos. of Schools CMDM Program is continuing smoothly without interruption. Distributors received food grains from FCI as per allotment and distributed to the School points properly and smoothly.
Eligibility Criteria: At present all the children studying in class I to VIII of Govt., Govt. Aided, Local Body schools, EGS & AIE centers including Madrasah and Maqtab supported under SSA & NCLP Schools are eligible to obtain the benefit of Mid-day Meal.

Administrative Setup: For proper implementation of the program District Level, Sub-Division Level, and Block Level steering-cum-monitoring committees and Grievance Redressal Committee have already been formed and functioning properly. Self Help Groups are involved in cooking under supervision of HM/Teacher-in-Charge of the School.
