About the Department and its activities :

Sriniketan Santiniketan Development Authority has been constituted in the year 1989 vide notification no. 3960/T&CP/lS-25/87 dated 14/12/89 under the West Bengal Town and Country (Planning and Development) Act, 1979 to ensure planned development in the rural and urban areas under its jurisdiction , which comprises of 44 mouzas with a total planning area of 106.281 sq. km.

The power and duties of Sriniketan Santiniketan Development Authority as defined in the Act are to prepare Land Use & Development Control Plan ,  to prepare and execute Development schemes,  to co-ordinate development activities of various departments. Accordingly, Land Use and Development Control Plan for its Planning Area had been approved and published on ll th February, 2002 in the Kolkata Gazette and revised Land Use and Development Control Plan has been approved and published on 9 March, 2017.
